Which would be worse - a world without sex, or a world without electric blankets?

Well, sex in life-long, loving, hot, passionate relationship/s where there's bed sharing makes electric blankets less important - but considering how unlikely a scenario this is, I'd have to say electric blankets. Especially where there's no central heating.

I think I'm inclining to that view myself.

As someone who's never owned or wanted an electric blanket, I'd have to say that their disappearance would not affect me at all.

Brr! How do you face the icy expanse of sheet?

With the relish of a Spartan.

Mmm... relish...

Caramelised red onion.

I suppose there must be a point in one's life at which an electric blanket seems like a better idea than sex, but I'm definitely not there yet.

Custard slices on the other hand...

Oooh...now I fancy caramelised onion relish. But not near the electric blanket. Also, I was so fond of my electric blanket that I used to sleep on it even when it got into the condition where it faintly buzzed when you turned it on.

You really shouldn't do that you know.

I found a decent woollen underlay does the trick, so a world without electric blankets can't be all that bad.

But without sex, humans would die out. I think that's probably the better world in the long run.

It'd be a bit of a drastic measure though.

Yes, I suppose it would be a slow and unpleasant extinction... but a warm one.

You non-electric-blanket people must be a new breed of superhuman. You don't morph into an unstoppable killing machine, by any chance?

That'd be kind of amusing. Hey - perhaps we don't need them because we already have a strong resistance element. Ha! Hahahahaha!

I don't know about unstoppable. Unstoppable by a slightly chilly mattress, indeed, but as vulnerable as ever to high fences and trivial distractions. I don't know about killing machine, either... more of an angry whiner.

A woollen underlay is pretty good, you know. That and a box-stitch (proper, with internal walls) goose down duvet. Then there's nothing with the thermal mass that can really feel cold for more than a few seconds when you get in.
