Back from the beach. The weather was perfect, the water was warm, the location was beautiful, and best of all with internet turned off I didn't hear about the Felon and f'Elon once. I found that hoping they might spontaneously combust while I was away was very soothing.

I really needed a break to get a bit of distance from worrying nonstop about America, worrying for Canadians and Greenlanders, and worrying for my own country once the Eye of Sauron falls on us as it eventually will. Sitting on the balcony gazing at the waves gently breaking on the beach gave me space for reflection that they have been doing that since long before the emergence of humans and will no doubt be doing so long after we disappear. For the sake of my mental health I'm hoping to be able to hold onto that sense of perspective as the current catastrophe continues to unfold.

I am so happy for you that you had a lovely and carefree, unplugged vacation! That sounds heavenly. Yes, when things start going crazy in one major country it can effect so much and Felon47 with his Musk helper is no bueno for any of us!

Thank you! Hard to know what to do, isn't it. I'd like to stick my head in the sand and not know anything about what's happening, but it's difficult to live that way. However, I think rationing exposure to bad news is a very good idea.

Yes, only small amounts at a time and it helps me to stay away from the speculation type news. Some of this we have to wait and see what the courts can do, if anything. And I also keep thinking that 'he who I will not name' is very hard to get along with, so how long will some of these close to him last. Interesting times and scary times, that's for sure!

We are being tested in a sense. How to survive in a maddening world, sigh.

Welcome back! Yes, it is mind-blowing just how short a time we humans have actually lived on this planet, relative to everything else. Tyrants also come and go, even if it means many centuries.
