Not going to talk about the shooting itself or its possible consequences, because there are enough firing from the hip opinions and conspiracy theories already without my hot take.

However, what really astonished me is that even after sounds of bullets most people made no attempt to leave. Probably a good thing as a stampede would have killed more people, but it was jaw-dropping watching people standing still and filming on their phones as if they were at a Disney spectacular. The line between social media and real life is getting so thin it's pretty much disappeared.

Right?

I'd imagine the first couple of seconds people were merely stunned. But then the fist pumps and everyone just started chanting USA! like a few gunshots are totally normal. Maybe for that audience, it is :/

I dunno - I'm not sure what I would have done? If I was up on those bleachers, and nobody else is moving - what am I going to do? Trample and step on people to get down to the ground? And in the moment - I don't know where the shots are coming from - so where *is* safe? If I stand up and start moving - am I making myself a target?

It's honestly such a crazy thing to even have to think about - "what would you do if you were in a stadium/bleacher/crowd of people and someone started shooting"

But yeah - I would not pull out my phone - that's just nonsense.
