All you people are terrifying me with your stories of putting up Christmas decorations. I was thinking "But Christmas isn't even a thing yet!" and then I looked at the date. Huh. Okay. Normally I'm a first day of December girl but I'm way too busy this year to be dragging out the tree during the week, so this weekend it is.
Fortunately decorating isn't exactly a huge deal chez Msconduct. I do fancy decorating mid-year at Matariki, which is a midwinter festival the way Christmas is in the northern hemisphere. The lights look a lot better in the lower light at that time of year. In December I celebrate the summer solstice, so it's just flowers and a pre-lit white birch that I hang little toy woodland animals on. Down from the loft, unfold, hang, insert batteries, done. Ten minutes tops. Joy to the world.

Date: 2023-11-26 07:01 pm (UTC)Yeah, it just makes sense in the U.S. to set up Christmas trees during Thanksgiving break. We actually have the time and energy to do it. At least those of us not travelling!
