I was totally intending this year to visit Syria, Egypt and Jordan. I love ancient history; I was completely blissed out by Rome; I even have School C Latin.

Then I scrubbed an elephant. Suddenly Palmyra just looked like a heap of broken rocks. In July, I'm going on a camping safari to Botswana.

Falling in love is generally a surprise. I expect that's especially true if it's with elephants.
