QotD

Thanks to [personal profile] spiffikins for once again doing a sterling job of rounding up (and creating) questions for 2025. I'm going to try and do ones relevant to me this year if I can, as otherwise I hardly post at all. Since I'm living in the future in NZ, I'm starting with January 2.

2.Do you still listen to CDs or cassette tapes?

CDs, definitely, either the real thing or files I've ripped from my own. I've been involved in music since I was very young, have perfect pitch, and can't listen to mp3s because my ears can hear that a lot of the music is missing. It's very unpleasant. So I mostly listen to CDs or FLACs, although my true love is vinyl. You just can't beat the warmth and fullness of analogue.

I'm not sure if you've mentioned it before -- Do you sing and/or play musical instruments?

What are your favourite genres or who are your favourite musicians?

That's wonderful, with singing. I admit I would've been a little disappointed if you have perfect pitch and don't sing or play anything at all! ;)

Oh we have similar musical taste, with some overlapping of disliked genres lol. For me, add to the list most rap and some country. I am curious about modern classical and what fits into this category? One of my favourite musicians is Wim Mertens; is he considered modern classical?

I consider Wim Mertens a minimalist, but modern classical is a very broad category which also includes New Agey music that I also like :D

(Some of my faves from Mertens are "Close Cover", "Struggle for Pleasure", "Birds for the Mind", "The Scene")

I listen to old CDs in the car as it has a player. And we do have a CD player in the house. Vinyl is the very best, I agree. It is making quite the comeback here. My stepson has crates and crates of vinyl and him and his wife work at a vinyl record store. It would be quite an investment for me though...

That is something that you still have your original vinyl. I have some old yoga music CDs from like 1998 but that is the oldest music I still have.
