Novavax

I'm going on my annual beach holiday in a couple of weeks (unless, like last year, there's a tropical cyclone. PLEASE DON'T LET THERE BE A TROPICAL CYCLONE). This is my biggest potential Covid exposure of the year, so I decided to get a booster beforehand.

I picked Novavax this time since, as we all know, Bill Gates filled the mRNA vaccines with chips that make you buy a Windows phone every time you pass a 5g tower. Ha! Just kidding! There aren't any Windows phones any more! Bill Gates really didn't think that one through.

Why I actually wanted Novavax is that I've had Pfizer five times and every time it's totally kicked my arse. It always knocks me flat with a fever, incredble tiredness and fluey aching for at least a week. Novavax was rumoured to have milder side effects, so that sounded like a plan.

The New Zealand government REALLY doesn't want you to have Novavax. They only got it in under duress because of the squawking of anti-mRNA vaxxers. Trying to book it online was impossible - the system just wouldn't let me do it despite promising that it would. (To be honest, I'm attributing this more to stupidity than malice.) I had to call them instead and endure with gritted teeth during the long wait the robovoice asking me brightly if I knew that I could book my vaccine online.

Finally I got it done and got jabbed the same day. And I'm impressed! I've felt a bit crappy, about the level I'm used to with a flu vaccine, but it's been nowhere near as bad as the Pfizer. I'm definitely a Novavax convert.
