The End Of An Era Part II

I couldn't bring myself to watch the Queen's funeral service (too sad), but I did watch the funeral procession, because that was a spectacle and a half. If there's anything the country of my birth has a complete lock on, it's pageantry. Absolutely breathtaking. The hats alone! An endless variety of fluffy, feathery, and furry, and I'm not talking about the women.

And amidst all the gold and drums and medals and uniforms, it was deeply human. The grief on the faces of her children was heart-wrenching.

The pomp, pageantry and ceremony was amazing! Your country really does know how to do that well.

It was quite sad but that church is so beautiful, I got up at 4:30am and caught part of it inside the church. Yes the children and the grandchildren, how touching.

The end of an era, sigh.

I watched it all, and yes, it was quite emotional. I suppose that, in a way, it's good that I couldn't see it. I woke at three in the morning, and didn't fall asleep until after midnight, but it was all worth it.
