Buying appliances becomes, at some point, a calculation on age, mine AND the appliance. I try not to buy something that will significantly outlast me. The odds change over time but your Speed Queen will definitely be churning away long after me. When mine died I bought a Samsung that will be replaced, no doubt, by me. But it does not chew up anything and plays Schubert's "Die Forelle" when the cycle is done.
