China Eastern tragedy

I was horrified to read today about the China Eastern crash in which the plane plummeted almost vertically into a mountainside, killing, obviously, everyone on board.

In 2008, I took a China Eastern plane on the same route as the crashed plane (Kunming to Guangzhou). I flew quite a bit in China and was always nervous about it as the airline safety record at that time was pretty dire. However, it's greatly improved in recent years which makes this crash all the more shocking.

This is the first time I've read about a crash that's taken place with the same airline and on the same route I've flown myself. Some days you feel the Reaper's breath a little bit closer on the back of your neck.

Oh jeez, that is pretty creepy! I really wonder what happened there, how horrible. It makes me shudder.

I usually don't involve myself in world affairs, but that must feel rather strange. Thank goodness you weren't on that plane!

Thank you, yes, I know it was separated from my flight by quite a few years, but it couldn't help but be a bit disturbing.
