Woohoo! Second Pfizer done! So excited to be fully vaxxed. Yeah, we don't actually have any community Covid, but that doesn't mean we never will, and I'm very happy to at least have some defence now.

And it's good to know I'm not alone. There was a mass vaccination event last weekend in South Auckland, which has a high percentage of Maori and Pasifika people whose vaccination rates are traditionally lower, and it exceeded the target of 15,000 vaccinations, which is fantastic news. NZ's vaccination rate has been woefully slow thus far, and a lot of other countries have been wagging their fingers at us as a result, but as a small country with no buying power it wasn't exactly easy for us to get to the front of the queue for vaccines. It's been a trickle rather than a flood: the day before I had my first dose NZ literally ran out of vaccines. The Minister for Covid was apparently refreshing the delivery page like it was an Amazon package. And we're still receiving vaccines at Pfizer's whim. Many people I know haven't been able to make vaccine bookings before October. However, it's good to know that at last we're under way.
