Surprise surprise
Jan. 8th, 2021 03:50 pmI've seen a lot of people talking about how Trump in his latest video has finally conceded. Nope. He talks about an orderly transition, but that's all.
Even more concerning is his final statement to his supporters about how their journey is only just beginning. I've been keeping close tabs on the Qanon cult over the last few months, and like the Qcumbers I know exactly what he's talking about. Some of them have come to their senses over the last day, but there are plenty more who have been encouraged to keep hoping that their vision of Trump taking over the world (and I mean that literally) will still come true.
These people are genuinely dangerous. They don't just want Trump to get a second term. They want him to preside over a country run under martial law in which military tribunals decree execution for Democrat politicians, child-blood-drinking Hollywood celebrities and, increasingly, every Democrat-voting American. It was easy to dismiss this as the product of keyboard warriors LARPing. Until yesterday.
Trump invited these people to Washington. He encouraged them to riot. He refused to let the National Guard come in to oppose them. He told them they were very special and that he loved them. And his latest video is a message direct to them. Already I've seen plenty of Qcumbers translating his "orderly transition" message as meaning he will be taking power with a new VP, traitor General Flynn. How are they going to react when they find out they're wrong? The Proud Boys were making plans even before yesterday for further criminal action on inauguration day.
It's easy to think that Trump is on his way out so it's a pointless distraction trying to impeach him, especially as it wouldn't take effect before Jan 20 anyway. But it really is important to try. If he were impeached, he would be unable to hold office again, thus nipping a 2024 election campaign in the bud. Otherwise this is never, ever going to end.
