At around 2.30 this afternoon, it was as dark as twilight in Auckland even though it's summer, and the sky was an eerie yellow. If the Australian bushfires can have this effect from more than a thousand miles away, imagine what it's like over there. Here, the wind is expected to change tomorrow and blow the haze away. Over the Tasman, it's far from that easy.
