A couple of weeks before my recent overseas trip, I bought a new car. (I do not recommend this, especially if you plan, as I did, to drive while overseas. The first time I took my car out when I got home, I sat in the supermarket carpark for ages trying to remember where the button was to open the boot. Eventually it dawned on me that unlike the fancy cars I'd been driving overseas, this one, labelled "entry level", in fact had no boot opener and I had to open it with my fingers like a mediaeval peasant.)

Anyway. Getting a new car isn't an everyday event for me: in fact I'd had my old car for fourteen years and only got rid of it when my mechanic warned me a large expense was on the horizon. Even more uncharacteristically, it was a new new car, my very first, and my first (small) SUV too. I'd always thought brand new cars were a total waste of money, but the late-year discounts on the new models were so extreme they were cheaper than two year old second hand ones. So it was a no-brainer.

Of course, my excitement at getting a new new car knew no bounds and I wanted to buy it presents. Especially after the first time I put shopping in the cargo space and it all fell over. There are a couple of pockets at the sides that are handy for keeping your reusable shopping bags in, but sadly my rogue vegetables, having escaped the bags, were magnetically attracted to them. I didn't want to be fishing apples out of there in perpetuity. This, I thought, was a problem someone had had before, and had found a solution for. I couldn't find anything locally. Amazon to the rescue! It turned out to be dripping in cargo organisers, none of them shipping to NZ, but hey, wasn't I about to voyage to the home of Amazon in Seattle? After meticulous measuring I picked out the cargo organiser of my dreams and bookmarked it. Amazon obligingly gave me a month's free Prime, and I was poised to order away when I discovered that the seller restricted my chosen cargo organiser to one per customer. Who DOES that? One was no good to me, as my vegetable game is strong and I have a lot of bags of shopping. So I had to pick another one and cross my fingers two of them would fit.

They did. And I LOVE them. Marvel at my vegetables, delightfully contained!
