It's not as bad as it used to be. Every year New Zealand inches closer towards celebrating the Christmas season in a way that fits our midsummer, South-Pacific-inhabitingness. But nevertheless I'm sick, sick, sick of the abundance of references to sleigh rides, letting it snow and winter wonderlands. Our own culture is quite splendid, thank you, and we've got no need to cling on to someone else's irrelevant tradition. Let it go, let it go, let it go.
