How it's going
New Zealand is on its tenth day of Level 4 lockdown, and we're doing OK. Current cases stand at 347. We haven't reached the peak of the outbreak yet, but we're not getting exponential growth. We've tested 5% of the population in the last ten days, and vaccinations have been going on at a blistering pace. On a couple of days this week, we vaccinated 1% of the population in a single day. As for the lockdown itself, it looks like the rest of New Zealand will be moving to Level 3 next week while Auckland stays at Level 4 for another couple of weeks.
And we're fine with that. What the right wing Covidiots overseas blathering on about how we're turning into a totalitarian state consistently miss is that New Zealanders are united in this. A recent poll showed that 90% of us back the government's direction. Leading to this lovely headline:
