Prison Part Deux
Thanks to some moron visiting the initially infected family while they were in isolation and then going to the gym after getting diagnosed himself, Auckland's back in Level 3 for another week. Aucklanders are. Not. Happy. Overseas visitors always enthuse about how nice Kiwis are, and sure, we can be, but let down the team of five million and you swiftly find yourself surrounded by people dying to rip your head off.
As for me, while of course I acknowledge that lockdowns are crazy expensive, extremely inconvenient for people who have to have their kids at home while trying to work, and business-destroying in some cases, on a personal level I have to admit that I secretly love a Level 3. This morning I woke up and, in a city of 1.7 million, all I could hear was the cicadas and the wind blowing through the trees. Ahhh.
