My new lockdown hobby
New Zealand's Delta outbreak continues, in the worse-before-it-gets-better phase, to rack up cases (we're up to 51 now). Under Level 4 I could go to the supermarket for food, but although I'm fully vaxxed I live with someone who isn't yet, so I'm like yeah, nah, I'll get a delivery.
Eighteen months ago when we had our only other Level 4 lockdown, essential deliveries were a complete mess as people scrambled to adjust. This year, they've swung into action immediately. As I have an autoimmune condition I get preferential access to supermarket delivery slots, but even so I had to wait a week to get one. However, that turned out to have an upside.
Last year, every delivery without fail, no matter how hard I tried to make sure I'd covered every base in my order, ten minutes after completing the order I'd remember at least one item I'd forgotten. Now, in a significant upgrade from last year, I can add items to my order up to twelve hours before the delivery slot. OMG! Totally awesome! I've always been envious of people who can do that overseas, and I'm delighted we now have it too. I've already added to my order five (5) times. So much fun!
