Somebody Gets It

Thanks, The Onion. Got it in one.

Meanwhile, as our cases build, we're busy doing Extremely Cool Science. Although we do lots of Covid testing, you can't rely on that to pick up every Covid case that might have managed to sneak through the border. So as an extra step, we look for Covid in the wastewater.

Being able to identify cases via wastewater is very handy check when we don't have any Covid, but where it really comes into its own is when we do. It's a great indicator of whether there are more cases that haven't yet been identified. So far, so good: wastewater testing thus far has shown Covid only in the places we were expecting it to be.

As well, in the last 48 hours we've established a link with the border and found the index case, as well as discovering via genomic sequencing where it came from. This outbreak is definitely going to get worse, maybe a lot worse, before it gets better. But we're fighting back. With Science.
