Back to the Pyjamas

As was totally inevitable, Auckland has a case of Covid in the community. As was also inevitable, we're hitting it hard: from tonight, the entire country is going into Level 4 lockdown - only supermarkets, pharmacies and dairies [corner stores] are open, no deliveries either other than from supermarkets - for three days and Auckland for seven.

There should be a word for the smugness you feel when a snap lockdown is called after you went shopping today so your fridge is full (me). There should also be a word for the fury you feel when your shopping day is Wednesday and your fridge is empty (my mother). I'm particularly lucky as I've had the feeling over the last week that a community case might be just round the corner and I stocked up on flour and toilet rolls and my regular delivery of a box of avocados arrived today. I'm set for all contingencies.

Delta will be harder to beat than the previous strains, but we know what to do and the team of five million is behind it. And it's not all downside. It's been a year since a Level 4 and I'm looking forward to waking up tomorrow to complete quiet again.
